I’m So thankful for this past Saturday.  My two oldest sons got baptized in the name of God The Father, Jesus Christ The Son, and The Holy Spirit.  By God’s grace He allowed me to Baptize them.  What a tremendous pleasure and responsibility.  I truly am the Priest of my Home.  How did this happen?  How did God take a broken guy like me and transform him into an instrument of love?  God is so loving and merciful and I am shown new mercies each and every day.

We don’t believe one has to be Baptized to be saved, we do it is an act of obedience, and outward symbol of our acceptance of His free gift of love and salvation.  The fact is if you want to be Baptized it is because you believe already that Christ died for your sins on the cross and rose from the dead conquering sin, Satan, and death once and for all.  If you already believe then we believe that you are sealed by God with the promise of the Holy Spirit.  This is such an amazing act of love.    You can have assurance of Salvation, of Eternity in Heaven, of a Crown of Life.

There was so much joy in my heart for my two sons as they went under the water, symbolic of our death of the men we were, and then raising again out of the death to being a new creation.  My shirt in the picture says “With God all things are possible”.  What an understatement.  God used someone like me to teach my sons about Christ.  God used someone like me to read them God’s Word.  God Allowed me to see them come to Christ, and He gave me the pleasure of Baptizing them.  God is GOOD.

If you know us you know our year has been tough.  I just went to our 5th funeral of the year today.  But our Redeemer lives, and He is still changing the hearts of men.  If you don’t know Christ please consider his grace and mercy.  I promise you there is none righteous not one.  We are all in need of a Savior, and there is no other way than through Jesus.

Truly the highlight of my year!  God is good.  Know Him and make Him be known it is our very purpose.  In Acts he says go and make disciples.  I ask you to go to those you love and tell them the good news.  There is nothing more wonderful than to see someone believe and have their eternal destiny fulfilled.  To be used by God to do the very act that John the Baptist performed was not lost on me.  It was one of the most humbling and gracious moments of my life.  I pray that God brings all of you a moment that is so kind and rich in love.

5 years ago when reading a Bible to these two sons on a family camp out my second son became a believer.  We went over this verse before going to the Baptism.

John 1:12New International Version (NIV)

12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

I beg you if you are reading this please come be a child of God.  It is so Amazing in the good times and in the Bad.  He is there to be your refuge.  To those who did receive him, to those who came before me and shared the gospel.  Thank You!  Generations have been changed because of your obedience to Christ.

Good Friday 2017

14 years ago today I proposed to my wife on Good Friday I wanted it to be a great day in my life.  It was the first Good Friday that I was celebrating as a Born Again Believer in Christ, and it was going to be my final one as a single man.  Much had changed in that year in my life.  Many of my old friends stopped hanging out with me because of the changes in my life.  My life looked drastically different than it had just one year previous.  What happened?  The answer is found at the cross.  What did Jesus do for us on the cross?  He took away my sin, separated it from myself, declared me righteous,  I was adopted by His Father as a son of the Living God.  Satan could no longer hold me, bind me, and declare me his property.  Jesus love for me, melted away those chains and I became His.  I love Good Friday’s for two reasons, one is Jesus showed me love, and saved me from eternal torment in hell.  The second is my then girlfriend showed me love and trusted me with the rest of her life by saying yes.  If your out there reading this let me make one thing clear, it is much easier to trust Christ with the rest of your life than it is me.  So since I’m taken, and Jesus loves you just as much, perhaps you would consider giving your life over to Him this Easter.  He has paid the penalties of sin, and has loved you since the beginning.  Your sin separated you from Him, but His love will bring you home.  Trust in his love and have a great Good Friday.

Matthew West-Every Tear

I have copied and pasted this from a facebook post by KLTY the below is a song that is really beautiful.  Enjoy
KLTY Posted:
Our dear friend Matthew West wrote this song this past weekend about tragedy that took place on Thursday night. So beautiful. Check out the lyrics:

Every Tear by Matthew West

“The world just took another spin in the wrong direction
Hate found a handgun, And now nobody feels safe
I’ve got to turn off the news so my kids don’t see another tragedy
I want to let them stay innocent, At least for one more day
Because when I think it can’t get worse, it gets worse
And there are no words to say
How much more can our hearts take

In this shattered place, where the shadows cover
Where we speak of love while we hurt each other
My heart aches for home, Right now more than ever
But I am holding on to the hope of Heaven
And the promise that the day is drawing near
You will wipe away every tear
You will wipe away every tear

There will be no more terror, no more riots in the street
And we will all be seen beyond the color of our skin
No more fighting, No more war
No more hunger left to ignore
No more sickness, No more pain
We’re here for now, but we won’t stay

In this shattered place, where the shadows cover
Where we speak of love while we hurt each other
My heart aches for home, Right now more than ever
But I am holding on to the hope of Heaven
And the promise that the day is drawing near
You will wipe away every tear
You will wipe away every tear

The Lord is close to the broken-hearted
The Lord is close to the broken-hearted
Oh Lord, be close to the broken-hearted
We need you now, We need you now

In this shattered place, where the shadows cover
Where we speak of love while we hurt each other
My heart aches for home, Right now more than ever
But I am holding on to the hope of Heaven
And the promise that the day is drawing near
When Your great Light will make the darkness disappear
You will wipe away every tear, every tear
You will wipe away every tear

Lord be close to the broken-hearted
Lord be close to the broken-hearted”

Jesus we do need you now!

A Pure Heart

“God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God”. – Matthew 5:8

The problem with the heart of mankind is that it has learned how to get through life in an impure way through years of living in sin or around it.  The incredible thing about the heart of the Christian is that it can be changed by God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit.  This heart has the ability to love and be deceived.  The ability to discern or the ability to be hardened.  I am thankful that God is continually working on my heart and showing me where I’ve been wrong and on occasion where I’ve been right.  But more importantly when I’ve been wrong given me the courage and faith to make things right.  God gets the glory for this.  In my flesh I’m a fearful, and scared.  In Christ I am brave, even though it may take some time to get there.  God I pray that you would put in me a pure heart.  A heart that desires truth, a heart that loves you instead of self.  God I don’t know what the rest of today will have for me but I pray that I would have a pure heart.  I pray that I would want to glorify you and live in truth.  His Truth.  God I want to see you, continue to work and mold my heart to be more like Christ.

Let Your Light Shine

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Some days are harder than others but even when we don’t feel like loving, good deeds kind of people I am amazed at how God uses me.  Now if you are familiar with Ephesians 2:8-10 You understand we were left here to do the good deeds that God left us here to do.  The good deeds that he put before us to walk in.  So if we are going to be here anyways lets walk in His good deeds.  Let’s make our God famous, lets let Him be known.
If your a stay at home mom, or busy with the 8-5 grind it doesn’t matter.  It’s all about attitude.  Am I thrilled with the person I am?  No, but everyday in Christ I get to decide if I will do my best to glorify His name.  What an honor and privilege.  So if things are going great be a Light for Him.  If they are going terrible be a Light for Him.  In all things be a light for Him.
Thank you God for taking me out of darkness and allowing me to be a light for you.  Help your word to be a light on my path through life so that others may know and praise you.

1 Corinthians 15:21

1 Corinthians 15:21  “For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man”

For since death came through a man

Adam and Eve brought death to the world by disobeying God’s instruction.  Genesis 3 shows a grim reality that we all deal with (the fall).  We can’t change anything we have done in this life of ours.  We have followed Adam and Eve in this disobedience.  And “the wages of sin is death” Romans 3:23.  That’s right folks, our fathers brought sin to the world.  Don’t blame God, blame man.  What makes this worse is that we continued to not listen to God through the years and even after this first offense.  One could make the case that the heart of man is beyond change.  That it is beyond goodness.

Man decided to chase false gods, power, & greed.  We murder, steal, & lie to get what we want.  What we want in itself can be another form of idolatry.  Putting my wants above the Lord’s desire for my life.  The first man failed…

The resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

But oh the sweet news of the Gospel.  God had a plan for us.  Knowing our hearts were bent away from His, He could have left us, He could have showed us his wrath.  But God chose LOVE to be His weapon of choice.  Instead of the stick God chose to embrace us, to adopt us.  Instead of declaring war against us He chose to make his Son a man.  A man…  Made in the image of God and fallen as sad a state that we were in, God chose LOVE.  This love was poured out on us in the form of the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Worthy is the Lamb of God, our Lord Jesus.  The Cross, His death was the death I deserve.  Not Him.  The Grave could not hold Jesus, Satan could not defeat Jesus, Death could not stop Jesus, Sin lost.  This Man/God/Christ/Savior succeeded.

How can we have this resurrection?

Believe in Jesus!  He Loves You.  He Desires Relationship with You.  Repent from your sins.

Lord forgive me of “what I want”.  Lord Forgive me of my sins.  My past can’t be changed but my future is in your hands.  I’m a new creation, I’m brand new, and I’m born again.  Through the Holy Spirit my eyes have been opened.  I can Love the Lord Jesus.  I can Love my neighbor.  I can learn to Love myself.  Outside of knowing Christ I had no clue what love was.  I can be healed of my afflictions.  I can be healed of my true disease which is my condition of Sin.  The cure for this condition is Jesus.  Lord thank you and all praise to you for giving your life for mine.  Thank you Lord Jesus for Easter.  Thank you for enduring the punishment that I deserved.  Help me to live my life as a living sacrifice.  Pushing all fame to you, and away from me.  Lead me from temptation, keep me from sin.  I having nothing to boast in if I can’t boast in Christ and the work He has done in me.  Lord, my positions is changed once and for all.  I’ve gone from sinner, & enemy of God; to saint, & adopted son of God.  Amazing!

Good Friday and Easter Sunday is the Greatest of all Events in History!  Thank you Jesus for the Grace and Mercy you cover us in.  Amazing!

Super Bowl 50

America will be celebrating the one thing in our culture today that gets more attention than almost all other things.  The Super Bowl.  Not only is this the biggest sporting event each year in the United States but this year is the 50th anniversary of the first one.  This one is big.  It not only is historic from just that stand point but it may be the last game in historic career of my favorite football player and quite possibly the best QB of all time Peyton Manning.  Not to be out done Carolina will be starting the face of the NFL future in Cam Newton, who will be the MVP of the season.  Both Manning and Newton are 1 & 2 in paid advertisements so in a way this is the NFL’s two most marketable players.

With all of this I’m very excited and can’t wait to watch the game.  But please America remember this is a game.  This is just a game.   Christ over 2000 years ago came to earth in the form of man, lived a holy life without sin, and then died on the cross so that sinful people like me could be with Him forever in eternity.  He defeated Satan, Sin, Death, all in one day, the day of the cross.  This Super Bowl is big and it’s fun but at the end of the day compared to the cross the victory comes up empty, and meaningless.  Please sports fans I’m one of you and I struggle with the worship of teams and players.  We find our identity with our team, player, or sport.  While that is fine for fun and games may we all repent of taking it too seriously and giving it too much of our heart.

Lord I pray that today during Super Bowl 50 that you would change the hearts of millions of Americans.  That if the idol is football, the NFL, the Broncos or Panthers, a player like Manning or Newton, or even the half time show personality.  Lord I pray that we would use this day to glorify your name.  That we would reject the idols that will be present today.  That we would repent and turn toward you Lord Jesus to find our identity in.  Lord too many Sundays are filled with NFL, NASCAR, GOLF, FOOTBALL, BASEBALL, and all other sorts of idols.  Lord today I pray for the sports fan that we would leave or fandom of Christ at the door, and become followers of Christ instead.  Lord I pray this for my house and for my fellow sports fans.
