Psalm 128: 1-6

“Blessed is everyone that feareth Jehovah, That walketh in his ways .  For thou shalt eat the labor of thy hands:  Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.  Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of thy house; Thy children like olive plants, round about thy table.  Behold, thus shall the man be blessed that feareth Jehovah.  Jehovah bless thee out of Zion:  And see thou the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.  Yea, See thou thy children’s children.  Peace be upon Israel.”

– Psalm 128: 1-6

God thank you for your blessings, for my wife, and for my children.  Keep me always walking in your ways.

One Day Closer

I know a couple of things about my life.  One it is going to end in this world.  Two I will be with you when it ends in this world.  The probability of me being closer to my time in heaven is exponentially increased with every passing second.  Lord I thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  I appreciate your love for me even when I was your enemy.  I love that you conquered death for me.  I don’t know when the second coming will be but your father does.  Each day that ticks off means it is one day closer.  Lord if you take me home through death or I am raptured either way Lord, the only reason I’m ready is because on the cross you said “It is finished”.  You completed the perfect, sinless life that I could not.  You paid the debts I could not.  I proclaim you today because of all my shortcomings. If I could make it on my own that would be great but I fall short Lord, I’ve sinned and one sin is worthy of Hell.  I need your love, your sacrifice, your blood to have a shot at eternity with You.  Lord thank you for your mercies, your grace.  Without Christ I’m nothing, With Christ I Need Nothing.  I may not be in glory yet, but I’m one day closer.

Praise God!

Love One Another

This message like all messages on here are for my sons.  I might not always be around and when that day comes I pray that you will find comfort in each other.  I pray that you will Love One Another.  I pray that you will care for the burdens  of each other.  Christ loved us and healed us.  Because of what He did at Calvary I have the ability to love placed in my heart by the Lord of all.  Sons I am thankful that you have chosen to follow Christ.  Now I ask that you would Love one another.  The world is a hard scary place sometimes, but Love Conquers all things.  Love your family, friends, neighbors, and enemy’s.  Love one another well.  I love you all so much and pray that love is found in each of you for your fellow man.  Show compassion, empathy, & demonstrate patience.  All men are made in the image of the creator and all have sinned.  Give them Love.

I’m So thankful for this past Saturday.  My two oldest sons got baptized in the name of God The Father, Jesus Christ The Son, and The Holy Spirit.  By God’s grace He allowed me to Baptize them.  What a tremendous pleasure and responsibility.  I truly am the Priest of my Home.  How did this happen?  How did God take a broken guy like me and transform him into an instrument of love?  God is so loving and merciful and I am shown new mercies each and every day.

We don’t believe one has to be Baptized to be saved, we do it is an act of obedience, and outward symbol of our acceptance of His free gift of love and salvation.  The fact is if you want to be Baptized it is because you believe already that Christ died for your sins on the cross and rose from the dead conquering sin, Satan, and death once and for all.  If you already believe then we believe that you are sealed by God with the promise of the Holy Spirit.  This is such an amazing act of love.    You can have assurance of Salvation, of Eternity in Heaven, of a Crown of Life.

There was so much joy in my heart for my two sons as they went under the water, symbolic of our death of the men we were, and then raising again out of the death to being a new creation.  My shirt in the picture says “With God all things are possible”.  What an understatement.  God used someone like me to teach my sons about Christ.  God used someone like me to read them God’s Word.  God Allowed me to see them come to Christ, and He gave me the pleasure of Baptizing them.  God is GOOD.

If you know us you know our year has been tough.  I just went to our 5th funeral of the year today.  But our Redeemer lives, and He is still changing the hearts of men.  If you don’t know Christ please consider his grace and mercy.  I promise you there is none righteous not one.  We are all in need of a Savior, and there is no other way than through Jesus.

Truly the highlight of my year!  God is good.  Know Him and make Him be known it is our very purpose.  In Acts he says go and make disciples.  I ask you to go to those you love and tell them the good news.  There is nothing more wonderful than to see someone believe and have their eternal destiny fulfilled.  To be used by God to do the very act that John the Baptist performed was not lost on me.  It was one of the most humbling and gracious moments of my life.  I pray that God brings all of you a moment that is so kind and rich in love.

5 years ago when reading a Bible to these two sons on a family camp out my second son became a believer.  We went over this verse before going to the Baptism.

John 1:12New International Version (NIV)

12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

I beg you if you are reading this please come be a child of God.  It is so Amazing in the good times and in the Bad.  He is there to be your refuge.  To those who did receive him, to those who came before me and shared the gospel.  Thank You!  Generations have been changed because of your obedience to Christ.

Currently this year has been very stressful.  Death of friends, moving, money, and people have created their issues.   But God is good and he delivers.  Not always like you think He will, but He will.  His goodness has brought me through many trials in my life.  He is amazing and when things don’t look good around us we just need to trust in Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6New International Version (NIV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]

So Proud of My Wife

My wife is a tough lady.  She is a intelligent person.  She is a beautiful women.  She is my Hero.  She makes me a better person, she works day and night for our kids.  She is tenacious, compassionate, and so giving to those in need.  She is so talented and tonight she will be doing the release of her new CD in partnership with the other members of the Denton Worship Collective.  She has written two original songs for the event.  The first is the one that will be on the CD and the other is the one that she wrote for her best friend Lexi who died earlier this year.  Tonight she will play that song for the first time to an audience and I’m so proud of her.  She is brave, courageous, & strong.  She is my wife and tonight in the midst of a very difficult year she will sing praises to the Lord.  I’m so proud of my wife.  What an encouragement.

Well Done Good And Faithful Servant

Before I turned 40 I had attended 5 funerals.  In the past 4 months since turning 40, our family has now attended 4.  My wife’s best friend, my wife’s old softball teammate, a dear co-worker, and the latest a dear friend and sweet saint of God.  Bernice was 82 years old, and had been married to our friend Dan.  We met them 14 years ago as they did our premarital counselling.  Kara and Dan would sit and smile and Bernice and I would chat the entire time having the best of times.  I remember thinking  when we left there how great it would be to married 50 plus year like them.  Well in the end they were married 65 years, they had 4 kids, 8 grand kids and great grand babies as well.  The funeral was sweet, and joyful it was the funeral of a saint going home.  There was no question, this was a woman who loved the Lord.  Over the years as we all aged she became ill with Parkinson’s, which took it’s toll on her.  Dan showed us all how to finish the race strong as he was with her till the end taking care of her.  I can’t think of a better example of how to do marriage than our two pre-marital counselors.

While at the funeral they told a story about Bernice when she was 5 years old.  Her dad hopped in the car and was backing out of the driveway, some of her 11 brothers were playing baseball in the street.  When all the sudden they started shouting “you killed her, dad you killed her.”  They were able to pick the car up twice but neither time did they have the presence of mind to pull her body out, and they laid it back onto her.  Then her dad put the car in neutral and they rolled it off of her.  Bernice laid their limp blood coming out of her eyes, and nose.  Her dad a man of God holding her said, “God you told me you wouldn’t give me more than I can bear, and I can’t bear the thought of killing my little girl.”  As he said this her arms regained strength and she put her arms around her daddy’s neck.  She said “what happened?”  The ambulance arrived and they took her to the hospital where they could find nothing wrong with her.  God had healed and saved Bernice.

As I sat there listening to this story for the first time I was amazed.  I have heard stories like this in the past and thought man wouldn’t that be cool if that really happened.  Well I can assure you if this family said it happened, it happened.  Truly God is a God of His word, and because this man of God had a relationship with God, he knew God would hear his prayers.  As I looked at all the people at the funeral I thought to myself how many of these people wouldn’t have been here had that prayer not been prayed.  God knew from the foundations of the earth whose name was in the book of life and he knew that Bernice must survive to mother and grandmother some of these saved to be individuals.  How great is our God?  Amazing.  And what did Bernice make of her life? A lot she showed generations of people how to love.  How to love, is no small thing to teach others to do.  It is the hardest of things when the object of the love is not ourselves.  She was a miracle at age 5 and she was a miracle at the end.  Well Done Good And Faithful Servant.  Thank you for showing me and my wife how to love so many years ago.  Your legacy lives on through the lives you touched.

Thank You!
